This The orphanage could be described as a supernatural thriller, where the situations staged by the director and especially the feelings unleashed in the audience are led back to such films as The Sixth Sense of M. The Night Shyamalan or others of Alejandro Amenabar .
The two films mentioned above, like many others, have accustomed us to gender issues and developments of the plot such as that which we witness watching the film Bayona produced by Guillermo Del Toro .
Just maybe this proves to be the major limitation for the rest of the movie absolutely enjoyable. Not so hard to guess where the storyline going to end, although this increases the curiosity, the anxiety creeps el'ultraterreno seems ever closer.

Laura (Belen Rueda), spent a happy childhood despite being raised in an orphanage. Just in the house that houses the Institute, now an adult Laura decides to open a home for disabled children.

Meanwhile, the day comes that future guests visiting the hotel, there is a sort of masquerade, masks some of these apparently frightening, even more terrifying secrets hidden. An enigmatic figure is close to home and family life.
The isolated house, close to the sea, the interior and set design evoke gothic atmospheres, the encounter with the unknown will bring out the courage and the love of a mother for her child.

The situation becomes more alarming tone, the story winds past little by little until the dramatic finish. The question remains: What is prepared to deal with, to believe, to accept before the love of a mother for your child? Simply everything.

Although not particularly elements of originality, the debut of Juan Antonio Bayona turns out to be a good movie, well built that looks good in front of more standardized products of the same gender. If you have already seen the films mentioned in the opening post and you liked them, even given an opportunity to The orphanage.
